Obeevend Online ("Company", "we", "us", or "our") operates the Mero Taxi mobile application (for passengers) and the Mero Taxi Partner mobile application (for drivers). We are committed to protecting your personal data and your privacy.

This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, process, share, and safeguard your information when you use our applications, website (www.meroapp.in), and related on-demand aggregation services. By using our services, you consent to the data practices described in this policy.

1. INFORMATION WE COLLECT

To provide a functional ride-hailing ecosystem, we collect information from both passengers (Mero Taxi) and drivers (Mero Taxi Partner).

A. Information Provided Directly by You

  • Profile Information: Name, email address, mobile phone number, profile picture, and login credentials (such as password or OTP data).

  • Driver Documentation (Mero Taxi Partner Only): For verification and regulatory compliance under the Motor Vehicles Act, we collect copies of your Driving License, Vehicle Registration Certificate (RC), commercial permits, vehicle insurance, Pollution Under Control (PUC) certificate, and identity/address proofs (Aadhaar, PAN Card, or Sikkim Subject/COI documents).

  • Payment Information: Bank account details or UPI IDs for processing driver payouts or saving passenger payment preferences. Note: Sensitive card details are handled via secure, PCI-DSS compliant payment gateways.

  • Support Data: Information you submit when you contact our customer support or report a grievance.

B. Information Collected Automatically Through App Usage

  • Real-Time Location Data:

    • For Passengers: We collect your precise or approximate location data to facilitate ride requests, map accurate pickups, and track your ride progress. This data is collected when the app runs in the foreground or background (if allowed).

    • For Drivers: We collect precise location data when the Mero Taxi Partner app is open and running in both the foreground and background (when the driver is "Online"). This is critical for matching you with nearby trips and tracking routes over challenging mountain terrain.

  • Transaction and Trip Details: We collect transaction details related to your rides, including the date, time, exact pickup and drop-off points, distance traveled, route taken, and the amount charged.

  • Device Information: Hardware model, operating system version, unique device identifiers, IP address, mobile network details, and app performance logs.

2. HOW WE USE YOUR INFORMATION

We use the collected information for purposes including:

  • Service Delivery: To register your account, match passengers with available drivers, navigate optimized routes, and complete your bookings.

  • Safety and Security: To verify driver credentials, monitor trip routes in real-time, detect fraud, and provide emergency features (like trip-sharing or SOS tools).

  • Payouts and Transactions: To process payments from passengers and clear weekly/daily settlements to driver bank accounts.

  • Communication: To send ride confirmations, receipts, safety updates, OTPs, or administrative emails.

  • Regulatory Compliance: To comply with tax laws (including TDS under Section 194O of the Income Tax Act), transport authority directives in Sikkim, and law enforcement requests.

3. HOW WE SHARE YOUR INFORMATION

We do not sell your personal data to third parties. We only share information under the following limited circumstances:

  • Between Passengers and Drivers: We share the passenger's name and pickup/drop-off location with the assigned driver. We share the driver’s name, profile photo, vehicle make/model, license plate number, and rating with the passenger.

  • With Service Providers: We share data with reliable third-party vendors who perform services on our behalf, such as cloud hosting servers (e.g., for GPS tracking databases), SMS gateways for OTPs, and payment gateways.
